How it works
Get the file
Save the Reel as a video file, a screen recording works.
Drop it above
Scribiz listens and reads the text drawn on the picture.
Or try the link
You can paste the Reel link instead. It rarely works, because Instagram asks for a login.

SaidEight bowls, and I only like three of them. That is the whole process.
Illustrative sample from a 15 second Reel. The first scene is music with no speech, so only the text is listed.
Public Reels only
Scribiz does not log in to Instagram, and Instagram asks for a login on most links. So the upload route sits up front: drop the saved file and only its audio is uploaded. MP4 to text shows exactly what leaves your browser. Stories and private accounts never work.
A link works only when Instagram lets our server fetch the Reel. When it does not, you get the reason and a way forward.
- Upload the saved file of a public Reel or video post. That works.
- A pasted link rarely works, because Instagram usually asks for a login.
- Stories do not work. They expire and need a login.
- Private accounts do not work, because the video is not public.
Music and silent clips
Many Reels are a song with text on the picture. The transcript is empty and the On screen tab holds the useful part. Speech over a song is transcribed, and a sung line may appear, though Scribiz never looks up lyrics.
Both mode reads the picture as well as the sound, at two minutes per minute of video. A 15 second Reel uses about half a minute. You also get a one-line summary. Captions burned into the picture are the easy case: the text is listed with its time.
A transcript is for research, accessibility and your own content. Posting someone else's words as your own needs their permission.
When Instagram blocks the link
Instagram asks for a login on most posts, and our server cannot supply one. The way forward is to upload the file.
The sources and limits page explains why the web is limited here. TikTok is best effort in the same way, and TikTok transcript has the details.
Limits
Public Reels and video posts only. A pasted link usually fails, because Instagram asks for a login. Upload the file. Without an account: videos up to 15 minutes and 10 Listen or Watch minutes a day.
