Voiceover, music and text on screen

TikTok does not give you a transcript to copy. The words are in the audio and much of the message is text on the picture, so Scribiz fetches the video, listens and reads the frames. You get what was said and what was shown on one timeline.

If a song plays under someone talking, the speech is still transcribed. Lyrics are not looked up.

What a TikTok transcript costs

Both listens and reads the screen, at two minutes per minute of video, so a 30 second TikTok uses about one minute. Listen alone is one minute per minute, and so is Watch alone. Without an account you get 10 Listen or Watch minutes a day.

For a Reel, use Instagram transcript. For scene notes on a longer clip, use the video analyzer. Which links work where is in sources and limits.

Limits

  • Public videos only. Private accounts and photo posts do not work.
  • TikTok links are best effort on the web, because TikTok sometimes blocks servers. Uploading the file is the dependable route.
  • Without an account: videos up to 15 minutes and 10 Listen or Watch minutes a day.
  • Both mode uses two minutes per minute of video.

Which links work

Reliable

Works on the web and in the Mac app.

  • YouTube, public videos

Captions when they are good, listening when they are not. Shorts and finished live streams included.

  • Direct audio and video links

A link that points straight at an .mp3, .m4a, .wav, .mp4, .mov or .webm file.

  • Podcast episodes

The episode audio from an RSS feed, as a direct file link.

  • Files you upload

Audio and video files up to 100 MB in the browser, and about 50 minutes of audio from a video. Only the audio is uploaded.

Best effort on the web

Reliable in the Mac app, which fetches with your own connection.

  • TikTok

Public videos. TikTok blocks servers at times.

  • Instagram

Public Reels and posts. A pasted link is usually refused, because Instagram asks for a login, which the Mac app can use.

  • X

    Public posts with video.

  • Vimeo

Public videos that allow viewing without a password.

  • Facebook

    Public videos only.

Not supported

Does not work anywhere.

  • Spotify, Netflix and other DRM services

The audio is copy protected. Nothing can read it.

  • Private, age-restricted and login-walled videos

Anything that needs a signed-in session. Upload the file if it is yours.

  • Live streams in progress

    Wait for the replay.

When a link fails, the result says why, and offers ways forward: upload the file, or open the link in Scribiz for Mac.

Frequently asked questions

Copy the link from the Share menu, paste it above and press Get transcript. You get the spoken words and, in Both mode, the text on screen.

Yes, in Watch or Both. Text drawn on the video is read from the frames and listed with timestamps.

No. Private accounts need a login, and photo-mode posts have no speech to transcribe.

TikTok blocks automated requests from servers. Upload the file, or open the link in the Mac app.

Yes. Drop it on the upload box and only the audio leaves your browser. Reading its on-screen text runs in the command-line tool or the Mac app.

A 30 second TikTok in Both mode uses about one minute, because Both is two minutes per minute of video. Without an account you get 10 Listen or Watch minutes a day, and minutes and billing lists every mode.

Transcripts in agents and code

Use it in Claude, Cursor or Codex with the MCP server, or from your own code with the API.
